  1. What is it?

F5Data is a subscription to a data feed which is used by software applications to give them the power to render graphics and present the information to you in a unique way. We do provide a free viewer called F5. You should also visit our partners page to see what else you can do with your subscription, and what programs support importing this data. Once you have an account, you will be mailed a unique passcode which you will enter into F5 or other software that you may be using for viewing.

  2. How do I cancel my subscription?

  3. How often does the data update?

The data updates on varying intervals. It depends on the model. Your viewing software of choice will be designed to pull the latest data available. In our F5 software, under the help menu we have a status window that updates every 5 minutes showing you the status of each forecast hour.

  4. Can I create images for my web page with F5?

Yes! With the professional package you can set times to generate the maps of your choice, zoomed to any level, to upload to your web site. You can create your own weather web page using F5!

  5. What are your different pricing options?

    See the subscription page.

  6. How do I download and try F5?

F5 can be downloaded by clicking here.

  7. What is the difference betwen the versions?

Take a look at the feature comparisons here.

  8. What operating systems does F5 work on?

F5 should work fine on all Windows operating systems. It is not compatible with flavors of Linux or Mac.

  9. Can I install F5 on multiple machines?

You may install F5 on a couple machines, however if we notice you are logging in from more than one machine at the same time we will assume you're giving your codes away to other people and reserve the right to terminate your account without notice. This should satisfy those who want to run F5 at home, at work, and perhaps on a laptop. We understand the need to have it on several machines that YOU OWN, and therefore we will honor these requests, but will be watching where your requests for data are coming from and how often. So don't share your codes!

  10. Do I get upgrades for free?

Yes. The software will do a quick check every time it loads to make sure you have the latest version at all times. If a new version is released the program will pop up with a messagebox notifying you that a new download is ready.

  11. Is the free version really free, and why?

Yes, the free version is really free. We offer a limited use version which offers 17 basic maps. The purpose of this is to offer a neat tool for people who just want the basics. Further advanced mapping capabilities, soundings, image uploads, etc. will require a subscription to pay for our server strain in pre-processing (calculating, contouring, etc.) map data. We are confident that those of you who want advanced mapping will see the quality in our basic free mapping that you will want to upgrade to the entire map suite.

  12. What minimum requirements do I need on my machine to run F5?

Although in theory any speed PC will run F5, it's a given that the faster the machine is, the more smoothly the software will run. Therefore, we set these general minimum requirement guidelines for machines that you choose to run F5 on:
    - 1 Mhz Processor +
    - 512 mb RAM +
    - 200 MB of free hard drive space
    - Resolution.. the bigger the better. The map checkboxes and map itself will look nicer with higher resolution

  13. What does it look like? How do I use it?

We have over an hour of video tutorials available online to view. The tutorials are broken up into many shorter videos, each by specific topic. To view the videos and get an idea of what the software looks like, and what you can do with it, visit our online tutorial web page.
